Job description Compensation: $24-27/hour Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Generous paid time off and holidays. Location: ARTS Center (National City, CA), in-person and remote. Reports to: Operations Manager Direct reports: Interns Starts: June 9, 2025 A Reason To Survive (ARTS) is a creative youth development nonprofit and community art center serving youth and young adults across South County communities of San Diego. Established in 2001, ARTS has served thousands of youth and families through high-quality arts education, community-based projects, and supportive services. QUALIFICATIONS ? Any combination equivalent to: ? Undergraduate degree in behavioral sciences, social work, public health, business administration or a related field. ? 2-3 years of experience in project/program coordination, community engagement, record management and reporting ? Previous non-profit work experience or outreach experience preferred ? A passion for community engagement and wellbeing ? Bilingual in Spanish and/or Tagalog preferred. ? Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, discretion and tact. ? Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, keep projects on track, and execute deliverables ? Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and effectively resolve concerns ? Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a dynamic team ? Ability to collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data. ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ? Cultural competency and ability to work with a diverse population. ? Knowledge of the South Bay community and culture preferred. ? Must be able to successfully pass a Live Scan fingerprinting security clearance with the DOJ and FBI. ? Experience with the following software (Or willingness to learn): ? Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Meet, Forms, etc) ? Slack ? Asana ? Dropbox DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Community of Care Program (50%) ? Lead the organization in implementing the “Community of Care” model across all departments and amongst the wider ARTS community and ensuring a culture of equity and inclusion. ? Co-create opportunities, gatherings and learning sessions for ARTS team through professional development and engagement activities such as: Lunch and Learns, Break Room Activities, Birthday/Workaversary Recognition, Etc. ? Coordinate team member satisfaction surveys and give actionable insights to improve team member’s experience. ? Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with collaborative partners that support pathways for youth, team, community members to access critical services in areas such as mental health, nutritional services, housing, legal and employment. ? Coordinate training of Master of Social Work (MSW) Interns to facilitate community-based mental health and wellbeing workshops ? Attend ARTS and other community-based events to best understand and be responsive to community needs Human Resources Support (40%) ? Maintain and audit all HR records including employee files, I-9 documentation, auto insurance, training, etc. ? Coordinate and track required training for all team members. ? Assist with maintaining updated job descriptions ? Research new mandated laws and policies to ensure organizational compliance ? Assist in development/revision of HR policies ? Coordinate hiring process: ? Post opportunities on ARTS website and selected job boards ? Manage opportunities email, serve as point of contact, and screen applicants for current open positions ensuring inclusive and equitable selection ? Coordinate interview meetings for the hiring committee ? Coordinate the new team member process, orientation, and follow up ? Manage off-boarding process, including return of ARTS property and scheduling exit interview ? Act as the first point of contact to handle employment-related inquiries or grievances from applicants and team members, and refer matters to appropriate staff to mediate effectively. General Admin & Supervision (10%) ? Assist with supervision of departmental interns ? Participate in departmental and all-team meetings ? Ensure that the ARTS Center is a safe and welcoming space for all: youth, families, team members, and community members ? Assist with development of People & Culture budget ? Support Operations Manager with purchasing, processing/categorizing expenses using QuickBooks, facility signage, and events, as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS ? Able to sit for prolonged periods of time at meetings, desk, computer. ? Able to sit at a desk and view a computer screen for up to two hours. ? Able to speak into and use a telephone. ? Able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds. ? Able to push/pull, may involve use of arms/hands, feet/legs. ? Able to reach overhead or below shoulder level. ? Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.
