Julia Schiffman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, psychotherapist, sex educator, and community activist. Julia earned her bachelor's degree from the University of San Diego in Theology and Religious Studies with an emphasis in Eastern Religion and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. She received a dual-track certificate of completion in Sex Therapy & Sexuality Education from the Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP) at the University of Michigan. She is the co-author of Women and Kink, the book that explores women’s reasons for their personal desires, their relationships in the kink community, and the stories they tell us.
In San Diego, California, Julia provides therapy services in her private practice where she focuses on trauma-informed and interpersonal issues with individuals, couples, and non-monogamous/polyamorous families. The population she serves are those from GSRD backgrounds, including, kink, BDSM, sex work/adult industry, LGBTQ, and non-monogamy. For more than a decade, she has volunteered for various causes, including the San Diego LGBT Community Center, local kink organizations, and as the Outreach Coordinator and Board Member.
